What’s changing in the K–8 Leader Dashboard for the 2026–27 school year?
The K–8 Leader Dashboard is being refined to make it easier for busy school and district leaders to see the information they need to plan, launch, and monitor Second Step® programs at their school and across their district. Leaders will notice a streamlined layout, a simplified Guided Playbook experience, and improved visibility into key data like goals, class creation, and lesson completion. Instead of needing to search across multiple pages, all this information will be surfaced right at the top of the page.
What updates will release this spring?
By releasing updates in April this year, we’re aligning with the natural planning period so leaders can plan proactively instead of reacting later. Leaders will be able to reflect on their school’s current progress this year to make decisions about how they’ll implement Second Step programs in the 2026–27 school year.
In April, leaders will use the Guided Playbook to:
- Choose their implementation approach for the 2026–27 school year
- Reflect on this year’s progress to set class creation and lesson completion goals for the 2026–27 school year
- Refine their school’s “why” for choosing Second Step programs in anticipation of sharing it with educators in 2026–27
- Download an action plan that serves as a roadmap for the 2026–27 school year
- Download a presentation that will inspire staff and clarify expectations for the year ahead
After leaders set goals for the 2026–27 school year, when will they display for staff?
Educators will see lesson completion goals and their school’s purpose statement for the 2025–26 school year on their My Programs page until June 25. This ensures that staff can continue to see the lesson completion goals that were set for this year every time they go to teach a lesson.
On June 25, the lesson completion goals and purpose statement will switch to the 2026–27 school year and display for educators.
What happens to goals that were created for the 2025–26 school year?
Existing goals remain visible on the Leader Dashboard through June 25, allowing leaders to continue monitoring progress through the end of the year. These goals can also serve as a starting point when setting goals for next year.
Is there anything leaders should do in anticipation of the April 16 updates?
Yes, leaders should review their existing goals for the 2025–26 school year because on April 16, they’ll become locked and cannot be edited without contacting support.
What additional updates are coming to the K–8 Leader Dashboard?
In the summer of 2026, the Leader Dashboard will be further streamlined to make it easier to see key data points related to program adoption so that leaders have this data at their fingertips when educators begin teaching the program.
The Leader Dashboard will also surface new data points to make it easier for leaders to see immediately where things are going well and where they can support their staff to stay on track with their school’s lesson completion goals.
