I've been given teacher access to Second Step digital programs or online training, how do I get started?

This article applies to users who have teacher access for the following Second Step® programs:

  • Second Step Elementary and Second Step Middle School digital programs
  • Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit online training
  • Second Step Child Protection Unit online training

Elementary and Middle School digital programs:

Creating an account: How do I create an account on SecondStep.org?

  1. Go to secondstep.org
    • If you have a Second Step account, click Log In.
    • If you don’t have a Second Step account, create one using the email address noted in your access notification email. Click Create Account and complete the User Profile. Click Submit and then login. (You don’t need a Kit Activation Key.) 
  2. Click Go to My Programs.
  3. Click the relevant grade band tab, Grades K–5 or Grades 6–8.
  4. Click the Create a Class button and follow the prompts.

 

Bullying Prevention Unit:

  1. Go to secondstep.org
    • If you have a Second Step account, click Log In.
    • If you don’t have a Second Step account, create one using the email address noted in your access notification email. Click Create Account and complete the User Profile. Click Submit and then login. (You don’t need a Kit Activation Key.) 
  2. Click Go to My Programs.
  3. Click the Grades K-5 tab if you are not there already.
  4. Scroll down to Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit Program Training if you don't see it.
  5. Click Start Training.
  6. Complete the module(s) you need all at once or over time. The program will keep track of your progress, and you can return where you left off.
  7. When you’re done, click Certificate of Completion and save it for your records.

Child Protection Unit:

  1. Go to secondstep.org
    • If you have a Second Step account, click Log In.
    • If you don’t have a Second Step account, create one using the email address noted in your access notification email. Click Create Account and complete the User Profile. Click Submit and then login. (You don’t need a Kit Activation Key.) 
  2. Click Go to My Programs.
  3. Click the Grades K-5 tab if you are not there already.
  4. Scroll down to Second Step Child Protection Unit Program Training if you don't see it.
  5. Click Start Training.
  6. Complete the module(s) you need all at once or over time. The program will keep track of your progress, and you can return where you left off.
  7. When you’re done, click Certificate of Completion and save it for your records.
