The Second Step Middle School Program will be updated on August 28, 2020. We've compiled answers to some of your questions below to help you prepare for the changes.

Can I opt out of or delay access to the update?
There’s no way to opt out or delay access to the update.
I liked the old lessons. Will I still have access to them after the update?
No. After the update, you will only see the new content.
Will I have to re-invite my staff to my license after this update?
No. All current users will have seamless access to the new content. But they will need to create new classes.
What if I’m in the middle of my implementation at the time of the August update? Will my classes continue uninterrupted?
After the update, you’ll have to set up new classes and your previous progress won’t be saved. This is because all lessons have been revised and updated for this release.
We recommend that you finish teaching whichever unit you’re in prior to the update. After the update, set up a new class and continue teaching by starting at the beginning of one of the units. If you have questions about which unit to continue with, please contact the Client Support Team and we can help with planning. What should I do if I don’t have enough time to complete a full unit before the August update?
We recommend filling in the gap weeks with advisory activities from the Second Step Middle School Program.
When should I have my staff create their fall classes in the Second Step Middle School Program?
Educators should create their classes after the August update.
I print out all my handouts for the next school year at the end of the year. Can I do that with this update?
The new lessons come with new handouts. You will have to print handouts after the August update.
I want my staff to begin training in July. How will this update affect training?
We do not recommend that you direct your staff to complete Second Step Middle School online training until after the August update. Since the Program Training is specific to the lesson content, most of the previous Program Training won’t be relevant.
I really want my teachers to begin training in July. Is any of the current training relevant to the updated version of the program?
Yes, the current Program Training for Unit 1: Mindsets & Goals will be applicable after the update. Your staff could complete that module before the August update. Please note: If someone completes the module before August, this won’t show up in usage reports after the update.
Will any updated training be available before the August update?
